First Edition of Nerds of the Northwest

You know the type. Maybe it’s the Birkenstock’s they’re wearing as they intently stare into the T.V. screen, hands gripped on their Xbox controller. Perhaps it’s the double tall latte stains surreptitiously hidden in creative ways once they found out their new PS3 slim didn’t hide it as well as their old console. Or maybe they’re just good old fashioned nerds, here in the Northwest, and you love them no matter what.

Whoever they are, this is Northwest Gamer so we are starting a new piece to showcase our Nerds of the Northwest, if you will. For this first segment, we thought it would be a good opportunity to 1. test this new format, and 2. give everyone a chance to get to know the original Northwest Gamers a little better.

Meet Jeff  (the idea-haver of Northwest Gamer) and Zack (the buddy that agreed to such a nerdy concept)… Read the full story

But wait! There’s more…

Quarter 4. As Jeff has already pointed out, this could be a challenging quarter. However, for some of us, this season is bringing on a whole new level of excitement. I am talking about, of course, the girly gamer’s Q4 picks. The Girly Gamer: On-Board

ratchett-and-clank
Welcome, fellow nerd. I’m here to introduce myself as one of the newest writers in this haven of geek-filled culture. Just so you know right off, however, my posts might be a slight deviance to the normal goodness that fill your pixelated screen.

There are several reasons behind this the first of which is though I love video games– (a love that started when I was first given my dad’s old Atari and I discovered I couldn’t tear myself away from Winter Games. What can I say? I was a sucker for that ski jumping event)– admittedly I don’t play all that often. Though when I do the bond that is created between myself and game is a bit outlandish, (Including my most recent obsession with the game Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction. This has created whole new level of unnatural excitement for A Crack in Time that can only be described as…potentially unhealthy).

The second reason being the start of a new segment I’m helping start here on Northwest Gamer. It will be called Northwest Gamer Profiles (or something nothing at all like that…once we come up with a better name). The segment will feature a new Northwest gamer in all their nerdy glory.

I will however have some other input to contribute here and there. I do, after all, posses a love for a certain motion-control based system that that my fellow Northwest Gamers tend to steer clear of and an affinity for action/adventure based games with focused story lines and puzzles galore.

Questions? Comments? Shout outs? Follow me here, here, or here. Until next time.
